Building Form and Place Making
Building Heights
Most academic and residential buildings on the SFSU campus are 2–6 stories tall. The Towers and Hensill and Thornton
halls are notable exceptions at 17 stories and 8 stories respectively. The temporary buildings, many support and service
buildings, and portions of Creative Arts and the Gymnasium are a single story. Residential buildings in the University Park
North area are low-lying 2- to 3-story apartment buildings and 10-story apartment towers, while in the Parkmerced area they
are consistently 2 stories.
