Summary – Opportunities and Constraints
Constraints
Topography/Accessibility
The most significant constraint to the physical design of the campus is its steep topography. The valley is the
most dramatic example, but throughout the campus, there are areas where slopes far exceed accessibility
requirements.
19th Avenue and Lake Merced Boulevard
19th Avenue is both a formidable barrier and safety hazard. Safe access to and from the Muni stop and across
19th Avenue at Holloway poses a significant challenge. Similarly, Lake Merced Boulevard acts as a barrier between
the campus and the lake's recreational and environmental resources.
