Sustainable Campus Concepts

Green Networks
Green space—the Quad, valley, courtyards, and gardens—is the connective tissue that unifies the SFSU campus and ties it to the larger landscape of Lake Merced, the oceanfront, and the surrounding city. New campus buildings are sited to help shape these spaces and to frame important views, like the vista along the new east-west promenade that links 19th Avenue and the Quad to the new Creative Arts complex.

The campus landscape is SFSU's most memorable physical feature. As density increases on currently underutilized sites to accommodate growth and allow for updated new facilities, green space provides an important visual and recreational counterbalance on this urban campus.
