We envision...
Emphasis on the pedestrian and alternative transportation where…
The campus core, with the Quad as its symbolic center, is reserved for pedestrians.
Parking is decentralized and located outside the core.
Holloway Avenue and Buckingham Way are lively pedestrian-oriented streets with retail and other places that generate student activity.
The recreation/wellness center, a major north-south pedestrian promenade, and other distinctive crossings bridge the valley greenbelt,
offering dramatic views and firmly connecting both sides of campus.
Pedestrian and bicycle paths connect the campus to Lake Merced.
An internal shuttle links campus destinations, with frequent, dependable service.
Bicycle access, ample storage in central and satellite locations, and showers for bike commuters in buildings or bike barns make
bicycling a desirable mode of transportation.
19th Avenue is redesigned as a gracious tree-lined boulevard—safe and welcoming to pedestrians—with a transit plaza convenient to
campus and Stonestown.
Efficient Muni service, BART connections, and light rail and/or bus service (with a park-and-ride lot) from San Mateo make public transit
the travel mode of choice.
Incentives to use public transit and ridesharing reduce the number of vehicles coming to campus.
